The Empire Hotel Goulburn

It's quite an old building so don't be expecting something modern and brand new. But that's not an issue because the rooms were clean and tidy, bed mattress was super comfy & the only downfall was the tv didn't quite work properly but you got used to it. Also a quick side note, if your in need of a microwave for your food, it's located up the hallway which probually might be helpful to state on the rooms info sheet. Luckily I remembered walking past it upon checking in. But really lovely friendly staff downstairs at the bar when we were checking in and the check out was super easy with just dropping the key off in the box. We didn't even know the Empire had rooms for accommodation, but it was a nice and quiet stay and the location is perfect as it's literally in the middle of the main street across from Coles. Oh and the rooms do supply fresh towels for your shower, however you will need to bring your own shampoo/conditioner & body wash as there isn't any supplied. Very affordable in price too. I’m writing this at 3am because I’m still awake and too uncomfortable to sleep here, even after a long 8 hour drive with another tomorrow. Most definitely not worth the $115 I paid to stay here, and I wish I looked at more of the reviews before booking! I really didn’t feel safe or relaxed staying at this property, especially as a young solo traveller who’s going interstate. The building is extremely old and the layout is strange and confusing, with dark corridors and no clear separation between the pub and the accommodation, which made it feel unsettling rather than like a proper hotel. The walls are paper thin and the noise was unbelievable - I could hear everything from neighbouring rooms late into the night, including very loud and inappropriate behaviour that made me feel genuinely anxious being here on my own. There is essentially no soundproofing and no sense of privacy. The ensuite door wouldn’t even shut properly, and I could hear the shower squeaking all night as well as the fridge. I unfortunately didn’t receive ear plugs or anything like other reviews mentioned. The whole place feels run-down and not at all like the listing suggests. Instead of getting rest on a long drive, I’ve been lying here stressed and waiting for morning so I can leave as early as possible. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone travelling alone, particularly younger guests. I wish I had booked a proper motel.

This must be the worst hotel on the planet Earth. We been travelling 10 hours from North NSW to Melbourne and stayed in Empire hotel in Goulburn. After nice dinner in nearby Chinese restaurant, we've been looking forward to having a good night sleep. Round 9.30 pm very strange loud noise and vibration started to travelling true the hotel. It felt like a earthquake, so we run out and finding that was the local DJ playing music down stairs. The noise and vibration was so bad, we couldn't stay in the room, so we been walking round the town ti 2.30 AM.We hardly had 2 hours of sleep and left the hotel tired and angry to continue our trip to Melbourne. This place is absolutely ridiculous and should be shut down by local authorities. We're having very strict noise regulations in this country and nobody cares. Do not stay in this hotel, unless you prepared not to sleep.

I drove all the way back from Sydney to Melbourne, just booked a place to relax for a little bit. But when I arrived at the reception, the lady told me they would have a DJ on that night from 10pm to 2am. She told me that I could cancel if I wanted and they would give me the money back. It has been two weeks since it happened, they don’t answer me on booking, emails, tried to call as well but they always give me some excuses that they can’t solve at that time and they would call me back. I’m gonna call my lawyer if this doesn’t get sorted. That’s ridiculous.

Absolutely awesome location, amazing looking heritage building... After 10 on Saturday's they have a DJ.. PUMPING OUT SOME AWESOME TRACKS... BUILDING MAYBE NEEDS A FRESHEN UP... OVER ALL AWESOME...... IM A CEMENT RENDERER BASED IN CANBERRA,,, IF YOU NEED SOME RENDERING FIXED HIT ME UP.. WOULD BE MY PLEASURE
