Privacy policy

Last updated: 13 July 2026

Pub Bookings (“we”, “us”) operates a directory of pub accommodation across Australia and New Zealand. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it. We comply with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (including the Australian Privacy Principles) and the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

What we collect

  • Enquiry details — when you enquire with a pub through our enquiry form, we collect your name, email address, and any details you choose to include (phone number, stay dates, number of guests, and your message).
  • Publican and contact details — when you submit the “List your pub” or contact forms, we collect the details you provide (name, email, phone, pub name, location, and message).
  • Form submission metadata — every form submission is recorded with your IP address and browser type, which we use for spam prevention and abuse protection.
  • Usage information — we record individual page views and clicks on pub listings (including your IP address) so we can report accurate visitor numbers to the pubs listed with us and improve the site.
  • Local browser storage — we use your browser's local storage to remember pubs you've recently viewed. This stays on your device and is not linked to your identity.

How we use it

  • To deliver your enquiry directly to the publican you chose — that is the entire purpose of the enquiry form. The pub receives your name, contact details, and message so they can reply to you.
  • To respond to publican listing requests and general contact messages.
  • To measure how the directory performs (views, enquiries, and clicks per listing) and report those numbers to the pubs listed with us in aggregate.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use your details for third-party marketing.

Who we share it with

  • The pub you enquire with — your enquiry is forwarded to that pub's publican by email.
  • Service providers — we store data with Supabase (database hosting) and send transactional email through Brevo. Both act as processors on our behalf; data may be stored outside Australia or New Zealand by these providers.

Analytics and cookies

We may use website analytics to understand how the site is used: either Plausible Analytics, which is cookie-free and collects only aggregate page-view statistics, or Google Analytics, which sets cookies (such as _ga) and shares usage and device information with Google. Where Google Analytics is active, you can opt out with browser settings or Google's opt-out tools. Apart from any analytics cookies, the site does not set tracking cookies.

How long we keep it

Enquiries and contact messages are retained while they are needed to manage the relationship between guests and pubs, and are periodically reviewed and deleted when no longer required. Individual page-view and click records (including IP addresses) are kept for up to 12 months to produce reporting for the pubs listed with us, then deleted automatically.

Access, correction, and complaints

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Send your request via our contact form and we'll respond within a reasonable time. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au) or the New Zealand Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz).

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top reflects the current version.
