We stayed one night at The Lakes Hotel and were pleasantly surprised by the experience overall. Check-in isn’t until 2 PM, but we arrived in the morning and the staff at the bar were genuinely accommodating — they offered to store our luggage without hesitation while we headed out to explore the area. That kind of flexibility and friendliness set a great first impression. The room itself had been newly renovated and, while compact, was perfectly suited for a one-night stay. The bed was comfortable and the room was impressively quiet — exactly what you want after a day of sightseeing. Bus stop is across the street and takes you right to downtown Sydney. The one significant downside, however, was cigarette smoke. The smell at the bar was overwhelming, and unfortunately it didn’t stay contained downstairs — our room carried the same stale scent throughout our stay. Whether it travelled through the ventilation system or lingered from prior guests, it was hard to ignore. We had hoped to enjoy dinner at the outdoor patio restaurant, but with guests smoking throughout the area, we decided to skip it. If you’re a non-smoker or sensitive to cigarette smoke, it’s worth keeping in mind. That aside, the staff, the renovations, and the comfort of the room made it a solid choice for a short stay in Rosebery
Had the best Flathead fish, chips and salad at the Bistro. I would definitely go there again. While not a huge menu, it was well balanced and suitable to most tastes. Only small issue was my friend's steak sandwich. It could have done with toasted bread to take full value of the steak and not the thick Turkish bread. The Chowder was excellent.
Awesome they have a vegan option as it’s hard to find any plant based foods at pubs. Had it last time and it was great. Great place to visit on a weeknight. I’m not usually one to go to pubs either.
Really great experience at Eastlakes Hotel. Huge credit to the manager Natalia, she was attentive and professional. Friendly atmosphere and excellent service overall. Would definitely come back.
A real Gem of a hotel - rooms are great, all the mod cons you expect, staff are genuine and friendly, food is top notch and prices reasonable. Will definitely be my “go to” for a Sydney trip. Comfortable, without being pretentious or overly hyped.
Within 200 km of Rosebery — for the road trippers.
