The York Hotel is a pub on Hannan Street in central Kalgoorlie, offering single, double and twin rooms with shared bathrooms.
None of the rooms has an ensuite, but each comes with air conditioning, heating, a fridge, a TV and tea and coffee facilities. Guests have free wifi and use of a saltwater pool, and there is a public car park behind the hotel. The train station, visitors centre and St Barbara's Square are all within walking distance. Restaurant 259 serves lunch and dinner, and the hotel has a spacious main bar and a balcony. Reviewers often mention friendly staff and good food.
We stopped in for a drink on the balcony and really enjoyed the friendly staff and the great view. Later that day, our daughter lost her wallet, but we had no idea where she’d left it. A couple of days later we contacted the hotel on the off chance it had been handed in, and thankfully their staff had found it and kept it safe for us. Even better, the gift card and cash were all still inside. We’re incredibly grateful for the honesty and kindness of the team. It turned what could have been a stressful experience into a happy ending. Thank you!
Awesome food, location, staff and overall atmosphere. Great memorabilia throughout as well. A must visit
Took my daughter to lunch at this Kalgoorlie pub. We ate at the front bar and managed to get a seat at a counter table straight away. I had fish & chips and my daughter had the burrito bowl (vegan). Both meals were enjoyed - no complaints. The York is one of the few venues in Kalgoorlie that has at least one vegan meal on the menu. Classic Aussie pub with day two of the Ashes test and the Crown Australian Open golf were playing on the large screens inside the bar. Good choice of beers on tap or available in bottles/cans. Street parking available near the hotel.
I only went to the restaurant. Food: amazing. We went on a Tuesday and got a $26 Lamb Shank. Meat was tender and full of flavour. The vegetables were delectable. We also got crunchy garlic bread. Overall enjoyable and I would come back regularly if I lived in Kalgoorlie
A beautiful old hotel, clean, spacious room with a very comfortable bed & leadlight feature windows. Original handcrafted timber staircase and balustrade, gorgeous feature dome ceiling - many of the original features have been retained & maintained beautifully. The shared female bathroom has been recently renovated & done well working within the constraints of an older building. Staff are friendly Continental breakfast was great, plenty of options & the fruit platter amazing It totally exceeded my expectations & a great central location to add.
