Weekend of 12th June was our 60th WA. We had a lovely room in an amazing old hotel which was furnished to perfection. The staff were wonderful from Thomas in front of house who was such a nice helpful young man. Richard our waiter was a hoot, such a fun personality. And the lovely lass (with the accent)who brought us 2 glasses of complimentary bubbles. Our meal was just so delicious. Our whole weekend was make perfect by the gorgeous hotel and its wonderful staff. Thank you so much 💓
A stormy Bay of Islands for Kings b'day so thought we needed to laze by the fire and have a good feed - the Duke didn't disappoint. The fires were burning and inside was cosy and warm. We settled into a leatehr couch with our drinks and nattered away. Moved to our table and the food was lovely. Starters was Aunties fried bread and crispy eggplant - yummy. Good portions on the eggplant and the chili caramel was decadent. Mains were Panfried Snapper and a Chicken salad. The snapper was cooked to perfection and the beautiful pea puree and tartar crema on top of agria potatoes made it delicious. Stole some of my wifes chicken salad and it was yummy - tasty chicken thigh with a peanut dressing and shredded carrot and cucumber. All in all great ambience 5/5, great service 4/5, great food 5/5 and price reasonable 4/5. Highly recommend
The location is stunning, with such a beautiful view and an incredible atmosphere. A special thank you to Bianka, who made the whole evening even better. She was professional, funny, and genuinely welcoming from the start. Her service was top tier and she made us feel completely looked after the entire night. She recommended the kumara ice cream for dessert and honestly, it was the best homemade ice cream we’ve ever had. The food was delicious, the service was exceptional, and the whole experience was unforgettable. We will definitely be coming back!
We had a wonderful experience at The Duke of Marlborough, and Bianca made it even more enjoyable. She was warm, friendly, and welcoming from the moment we arrived until we left. She recommended the market fish and the cauliflower, and both were absolutely delicious. Her service was attentive, professional, and genuine, making us feel well looked after. We would definitely recommend The Duke of Marlborough
I have visited a few times over the years to their amazing restaurant. Fantastic new Zealand menu with some great dishes. Unfortunately my last visit was disappointing and certainly not the standard I have come to expect over the years. Service was friendly but wait staff lacked knowledge of food served, a few simple questions asked involved checking. The food was very much off the mark. Seafood platter extremely disappointed, prawns really bad and old from frozen, I am sure if the chef had tried them he would not have sent them out. I am not sure what part of the platter was fresh and the waiter didn't tell us what we where getting. Tasteless and things like the risotto and pipis just tased like butter, poor balance and seasoning. Is the past the Paua risotto has been something special. Still amazing location. Super fun and friendly bar and wait staff. Usually on point, unfortunately not last night with their food. Hopefully just a bad night and not the new norm
