Post Covid-19: the new reality
With hospitality & travel being one of the hardest hit segments of the global economy during the global Covid-19 pandemic, relying on what you used to do to sell rooms in the past won’t generate the same results, particularly in the short to medium term.
Accommodation properties need to rethink their existing strategies, identify ways of attracting new customers and target markets that they may not have sold to previously. Guests are likely to to additional research and look for different ways to get value when buying a product or service, and purchasing patterns will change. Business travel will be likely be restricted to more essential needs only – for the short to medium term at least – and where possible remote sessions, phone meetings and video conferencing will replace some non-essential face to face meetings & events.
Because of this, properties will need to look for guests outside of their regular clientele and try to fill any of the decreases in patronage with new guests. Properties will also need increase their efforts in trying to encourage guests to book with them over their competitors and of course work with your previous guests to try to encourage them to stay again.
